Read from bvfair.ca, 30 July 2026

The fair is four weeks away and the site is doing most of it right.

Camping is a form you email

An RV site is $100 and the way to get one is to download an application, fill it in, send it to the fair inbox and then e-transfer the money separately. Four weeks out, every one of those steps is somewhere a family gives up.

The front page repeats itself

The same “See you at the 2026 BVX” banner appears four times in the rotation. Somebody arriving with a question — what time do the gates open, what is on Saturday — has to go looking for the answer past four copies of a message they already have.

The footer says 2013

Everything else on the site is current, which makes this stand out more rather than less. It is the number a first-time visitor uses to decide whether what they are reading still applies.

The fair inbox is on a phone company

bvfair@telus.net works, but for a 107-year-old exhibition with sponsors and vendors, an address at your own name reads differently.

Worth saying plainly: the prices are published, the dates are everywhere and the sponsors are up to date. This is a well-run fair with a website that has not been rebuilt in a while, and those are different problems.

What would change, in order

1

Take the camping booking online

Pick your nights, pay, done. It is the only paid thing on the site that currently needs four steps and two systems.

2

One banner, and a countdown

Dates, gates and the days remaining. The other three slots can carry what is actually on.

3

A schedule you can read on a phone

Standing in a field deciding what to watch next is the single most common way this site gets used.

4

Let the year look after itself

So the footer is never again thirteen years behind the fair.
